Winners of the 39th Annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest were awarded on the evening of November 5 at the Houston Fire Museum! Our three grand prize winners will be featured on our website and showcased here until the end of the year. All winners will be posted on the museum’s Flickr account as well; simply click on one of the posters on this page and you can view all the winning posters in detail. The event was well attended by the winners’ families, friends and the general public; continuing a long-held tradition between the Houston Fire Museum, Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH), Greensheet, and all Greater Houston area school districts. All winning posters will also be available for the public to view at the museum throughout the rest of 2013. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
This annual competition is held each October, which is National Fire Prevention Month. Through this contest, we invite all Houston students, pre-K to seniors in high school, to use their artistic ability to interpret a fire safety awareness message and help raise the importance of and awareness of fire safety education. The contest is open to all Houston and surrounding area elementary, middle, and high school students. Winning posters were displayed at “FireFest” on Saturday, October 19th at the HFD’s Jahnke Training Academy at 8030 Braniff Street near Hobby Airport.
