It's that time of year again! Here you'll find out everything you need to know for Firefest 2008. To the right you can find a quick list of downloadable documents and forms, and below is more detailed information. We'll continue to add information as the date grows closer.

Basic Information:

Firefest is an annual fun, family event, hosted by the Houston Fire Museum, and is one of the fund-raising events of the Fire Museum. Proceeds and sponsorship of Fire Fest benefit the Fire Museum's outreach and education programming. The Fire Museum is a 501 -c-3education non-profit. Firefest focuses on the fire service, and is held at the Houston Fire Department's Val Jahnke Training Facility.

Here are some highlights* of Firefest:
  • Vendors' Midway - Over a dozen vendor booths featuring memorbilia exclusive to the fire service including: t-shirts, jewlery, tools, furniture, stickers, patches, and much much more!
  • Food/Beverage Court - Sample some of the best BBQ from all the BBQ Cook-Off teams, as well other fevstival favorits such as sno-cones, funnel cakes, turkey legs, cotton-candy, and even beer!
  • Live Firefighting Demonstrations - See the Red Thunder firefighting team in action! This team is made up of the best of the Houston Fire Department's Engine & Ladder Companies that specialize in high intensity firefighting environments. Multiple shows scheduled throughout the day.
  • Annual Firefighters' BBQ Cook-Off - Watch the Houston area's best firefighter cook-off teams compete to win best in Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Beans, and Desert!
  • Live Music - Great live zydeco and Texas-rock music on the main stage throughout the day.
  • Kids' Fun Zone - Area designed especially for kids, with events ranging from pony rides to a towering inflatable slide.
  • Assorted Fire Apparatus - Get up close and personal with various apparatus, from antique motorized fire engines to state of the art modern response units.
