About the event
Hear curator Story Sloane III of Sloane Gallery speak about his vintage photography collection. He will offer personal family stories and reflect on his deep connection to the Houston Fire Museum. One of those connections especially close to his heart is his great-grandfather, Captain Drew Campbell King. Captain King served at the original Station No. 7, the very building that is now the Houston Fire Museum.
Sloane co-authored A Pictorial History of the Houston Fire Department, 1885–1980 and has written more than one hundred articles highlighting the positive aspects of Houston’s history. Story has curated this exhibit to present a visual narrative of what life in Houston was like during Captain King’s years of service to the community.
